The U.S. apartment industry is one of the largest unreached mission fields in the world, larger than most European countries. And yet the average European is four times more likely to attend church than the typical American apartment resident.
However, they are often uniquely open. Many are in transition: new to the city, new to the country, newly married, newly divorced, newly alone. Many are also deeply lonely...
Churches want to reach people in these communities, but many apartment communities are gated and operate under non-solicitation policies, making traditional outreach difficult. Today, Apartment Life serves more than 700 communities and over 500,000 residents across the country, serving the full spectrum of housing from Class A to affordable communities, but we are only reaching 1% of the opportunity.
This creates a relational bridge between residents and the gospel. We serve owners by improving resident satisfaction and retention, and in return they invite our coordinators into their communities with an official, ongoing presence.
Our coordinators welcome new residents, host events that build relationships, and show up in life’s defining moments: loss, illness, crises, and celebrations alike.Through consistent service, they earn trust and form genuine friendships. In the context of those relationships, they have natural opportunities to share their faith and connect people to the local church.
The remaining 5% comes from generous partners like you. That means every dollar given is multiplied twentyfold. That final 5% is catalytic because it fuels growth. Our greatest constraint is not willing clients. We already have more than 165 communities waiting for services. Our greatest need is finding the remarkable men and women who will serve them.
