Our Apartment Life Coordinators who are the most successful and have the greatest kingdom impact are those who surround themselves with a committed support team. Thank you for agreeing to be an important part of your coordinator's support team!

Volunteer Guidelines

Because of the unique nature of this ministry, there are several important things for you to know as you serve with Apartment Life. Apartment Life’s mission is “to radically transform lives in apartment communities by making Christ known.” 95% of residents have no meaningful connection to church and statistics show that most people only have 2 people they can confide in for meaningful conversation. To achieve the mission, Apartment Life Coordinators serve as local missionaries and:

    • CARE for people in their apartment community
    • CONNECT them in relationships, including a relationship with God
    • CALL others to do the same

With approximately 500 residents in each apartment community, volunteers are critical when it comes to impacting the most apartment residents with the love of Christ. The Apartment Life ministry is strictly a relationship evangelism ministry. Because we work with the apartment industry, we must abide by The Fair Housing Act. This means we cannot:

    • Pass out tracts or participate in other types of evangelism that take place outside of a friendship.
    • Be solicitors with our “religion.” All religious and faith based references should be provided at the request of the resident or within the natural ebb and flow of a conversation.
    • Give the impression that an event is Christian based or that any other opinions or faiths are unwelcome.

As a volunteer for Apartment Life, you agree to:

    • Meet and get to know residents in relaxed, social settings involving mutually interesting, fulfilling and fun activities.
    • Walk in Christ’s power but not lead with religion.
    • Make friends first and disciples later, in His time.
    • Be servant hearted.
    • Support the needs of the coordinator(s).
    • Ensure any spiritual discussions will be resident initiated and non-confrontational.
    • Applaud relationships and next steps, not just salvation.
